President Roger Albee welcomed all to the October 20 2022 meeting of the Brattleboro Rotary Club www.brattlebororotaryclub.org held at Ramunto's. <ED NOTE: 19 members + 3 guests + 0 Student Rotarians = 22 attended.>.  
For the invocation Roger Allbee gave an invocation quoting from Ralph Waldo Emerson .
 
This was followed by the pledge of allegiance.  Birthday greetings were given to George Anthes.

Guests: Jenny Crowell, Tom Bodette, Karen Cornish, Dwayne Johnson and Durham Rowley. We also welcomed back members Andy Rome and Milt Gilmore.

For our joke of the week: Bill Vermouth told a cowboy joke which was received with scattered mild applause.

ROTARY MINUTE
For the Rotary Minute, Mara Williams gave the Rotary minute and highlighted Rotary’s involvement in the effort to eradicate polio.
Rotary anniversaries : Joe Little 33 years, Carl Lynde 33, Ted Kramer is celebrating his 27 year, Betsy is celebrating her 21st and Tucker Kramer is celebrating his 1st.

FINES & Happy Dollars

Betsy bragged for two student Rotarians, Abby and Trevor and their athletic accomplishments. 
Carla Happy Dollar $5.00 for the book she is reading about the Dummerston group that went abroad to help give polio vaccinations; for the ECDC one year anniversary and the HatchSpace program she took with her daughter.
Gina Pattison bragged for Stan going to the Sunrise Club to present the Paul Harris Fellow for the winning Rotary club team at the golf tournament and for her daughter Katelyn for her can do attitude diagnosing bus mechanical problems and stepping up to play goalie for the soccer team. Milt bragged that it was good to be back and to be done with a wild summer that he and Barbara had.
Andy Rome also bragged that it was good to be back at a club meeting.

PROGRAM
 
Maggie Smith then introduced our program. Karen Cornish is the Community Learning Coordinator at HatchSpace. HatchSpace is a community workspace whose mission is the value and practice of craft, via teaching, shared space and tools. It is a member organization located on High Street. Karen talked enthusiastically about the many offerings and benefits of Hatchspace. HatchSpace offers classes focused on specific woodworking skills, classes on specific projects and its members get the use of the space and tools and the chance to interact with other members and the teachers and mentors.
