JOKE OF THE WEEK

For our joke of the week:

My uncle was always unhappy on Father's Day because he never had children to celebrate it with.
"Weren't you happy at home?" I asked him. He said, "Oh, sure. My wife laughs at everything I do. That's the reason we don't have children."

ED NOTE: 2021-22 weekly assignments are posted on the club website.

ROTARY MINUTE

Rotary and geography;
 1922 a small Rotary flag was carried over the South Pole by Admiral Richard Byrd, a member of the Winchester, Virginia Rotary Club. Four years later, the admiral carried a Rotary flag in his expedition to the North Pole.

--To visit the northernmost club you must travel above the Arctic Circle to the Rotary Club of Barrow, Alaska, U.S.A.

Answer to the trivia question

  When was cornhole invented? Answer: Some believe cornhole originated in Germany, where in 1325, a cabinet maker named Matthias Kuepermann, watching children throw stones into a dug hole (often injuring themselves), invented a less dangerous way to play using grain filled bags and a box made of cabinet materials lying around the shop. .
