TRIVIA QUESTION

In 1930, at the request of donor Paul Harris, the Rotary Foundation gave its first grant in the amount of US$500 to which organization?
(Answer below)

JOKE OF THE WEEK

For the joke of the week, George Anthes told the following quotes from Mark Twain:

  • I have been complimented many times and they always embarrass me; I always feel that they have not said enough.
  • The rain falls upon the just and the unjust alike; a thing which would not happen if I were superintending the rain's affairs. No, I would rain softly and sweetly on the just, but if I caught a sample of the unjust outdoors, I would drown him.
  • A man's character may be learned from the adjectives which he habitually uses in conversation.
  • All good things arrive unto them that wait - and don't die in the meantime.
  • The trouble ain't that there is too many fools, but that the lightning ain't distributed right.
  • There is nothing to be learned from the second kick of a mule.
  • Some people bring joy wherever they go, and some people bring joy whenever they go.
At our October 8th meeting, Cheri Ann Brodhurst will tell a joke or lead us in song and Rich Carroll will offer a Rotary Minute.  2020-21 weekly assignments are posted on the club website.
