President Roger Allbee  welcomed all to the Auguest 18, 2022 meeting of the Brattleboro Rotary Club www.brattlebororotaryclub.org held at the Ramunto's Restaurant. <ED NOTE: 21 members + 2 guests + 0 Student Rotarians = 23 attended.>. 
 

Introduction of Guests:

Andrew George was introduced by Phil George. District Governor Randell Barclay (speaker) and Dianne Barclay were welcomed.
 
 
Innovation
President Roger gave this Native American Blessing. May you have the strengh of eagle's wings, the faith and courage to fly to new heights and the wisdom of the universe to carry you there.
 
This was followed by the pledge of allegiance.  Birthday greetings - None today. Noted that no one was getting older this week.

ROTARY MINUTE
 

Rotary Minute - Ana presented a joint Rotary project in the Philippians  that created a 70' by 12' rotary shaped coral reef. The results were positive coral and fish recovery and economic gains with fishing and tourism.

 
Anniversaries:  Rotary anniversaries - none today.
 
New Member: Frank LaGrande was welcomed to the club. Frank was raised in the Hudson Valley NY area, education included Hotel Business Management and currently employed in Brattleboro. Currently living in Keene and has his oldest at Keene State College and youngest at Keene Middle School. Please welcome Frank and sign his Rotary handbook.

Bill McKim had many happy dollars for his saga of starting with a new EV mower that failed with many time consuming ventures to fix and ended up with a powerful 42" mower that will pay for itself when Bill turns 97.
 
Bill Vermouth hada  happy dollar for his daughter working on 72nd Street in Manhatten and her trials of finding a studio apartment. Bill also had a happy dollar for his overnight trip up Mt Isolation in the White Mts.
 
Carla had a happy dollar for the lovely celebration at SIT last Saturday; Commencement and the placement of a Peace Corps historic marker.
 
Rob, Carla and Meg reviewed our unique international project of hosting an Afghan family. Each stated the work of project and the great joys of the family and joys returned to those who worked with the family.

PROGRAM

Speaker:

Roger introduced Dist Governor Randell Barclay and wife Dianne Barclay. Randell is a past president of the Wallingford Rotary Club. He has served on a large list of District positions, has hosted Rotary youth exchange students, he and Dianne are major RI Foundation donors. Dianne is a member and Treasurer of the Fair Haven Rotary Club. Randell noted that our request for a District grant is pushing thru the administrative details. Randell noted that RI president Jennifer Jones is the first woman RI president. This year Jennifer delivered the year's banner design with the theme of Imagine Rotary. The Randell- Dianne presentation centered on the value of Rotary and importance of presenting the meaning of Rotary to others in terms of value.
