President George Weir welcomed all to the March 1st meeting of the Brattleboro Rotary Club held at the Brattleboro Country Club. Greg Worden offered the following invocation:
“You’ve blessed us with friends and laughter and fun. With rain that’s as soft as the light from the sun — You’ve blessed us with stars to brighten each night. You’ve given us help to know wrong from right – You’ve given us so much please Lord give us too, A heart that is always Grateful to you.” Amen
As a luncheon of lobster mac & cheese, chicken quesadilla, cheese quesadilla, garden salad, garlic bread, and chocolate chip cookies for dessert was being digested, the meeting continued.

JOKE OF THE WEEK
For our Rotary joke, Dave Twombly told a version of the following:
Father Norton woke up very early one Sunday morning and, because it was an exceptionally beautiful and sunny spring day, decided he just had to play golf. He phoned the Associate Pastor and said that he was feeling sick and asked him to say Mass that day. Soon after, Father Norton headed out of town to a golf course about 80km away knowing he wouldn’t accidentally meet anyone from his parish. He was alone on the first tee, after all, it was very early Sunday morning and everyone else was in church! Up in heaven, Saint Peter looked down at Father Norton addressing his ball asked God: “Lord, you’re not going to let him get away with this, are you?” God sighed, and said, “No, I guess not.” Just then Father Norton hit his ball! It shot straight towards the pin, dropped just short, rolled on and fell into the hole! IT WAS A 420 YARD HOLE IN ONE! St. Peter was astonished. He looked at God and asked, “Why did you let him do that?” God smiled and replied, “Who’s he going to tell?”

PROGRAM:
Gary Goodemote presented Bill Holiday and three of his students who participated in “Tracking the Tracks”.
"Tracking the Tracks" is a weekly, thirty minute showcase of the interaction of music and history, presented by Brattleboro High School students who are in the Film, Music and History Social Studies Class. The series was heard on WTSA-FM. The students produced 26 half-hour programs in 18 weeks. We heard part of the show which interviewed The Trophies, a Brattleboro-based rock group from 1963. Their biggest hit was Walking the Dog.
