WELCOME

President Carla Lineback welcomed all to the October 10th meeting of the Brattleboro Rotary Club held at the American Legion in Brattleboro. For today’s invocation, Marty Cohn asked for a moment of silence to send prayers to Dart Everett’s family. <ED NOTE: Sadly, the disease has returned to Dart’s grandson Michael and he has been brought home where he will be surrounded by love for his remaining time. Also, Lisa was found to have another lump.  It will be removed next week. A gofundme page is available to help with the extraordinary medical expenses.>

This was followed by the pledge of allegiance.

Guests: Kevin Killilly.

As a luncheon of Salisbury steak, turkey, tofu with black beans and corn, rice, macaroni salad, green salad, rolls, and brownies for dessert was being digested, the meeting continued.

TRIVIA QUESTION

What is the 5th leading cause of death in person over age 65?

 (Answer below.)

JOKE OF THE WEEK

For today’s joke, Marty Cohn told the following on behalf of Dart Everett:

Rhonda and Al were patients at the Retreat.  They became pretty friendly walking around the campus, playing games and swimming. One night they decided to sneak out and have a midnight swim.  Al sank. Rhonda dove in and pulled him out and revived him. When security came, they called management and Rhonda was praised for saving him. The next they told her it meant she no longer needed Retreat care and could leave.  But, they had bad news. They found Al hanging in his closet.  She said she knew. She had hung him up to dry.

At our October 17th meeting, Dart Everett will tell a joke or lead us in song and Tom French will offer a Rotary Minute.

NOTE: 2019-20 weekly assignments are posted on club website.
