President Phil George welcomed all to the June 23, 2022 meeting of the Brattleboro Rotary Club www.brattlebororotaryclub.org held at the American Legion. <ED NOTE: 23 members + 3 guests + 0 Student Rotarians = 21 attended.>.  
The Rotary Thought for the day was provided by Bill Vermouth, Bill reviewed the value of a daily minute hug to children.   
 
This was followed by the pledge of allegiance.  Birthday greetings - Jim Haine was honored with a birthday song by the club .

For our joke of the week:

John Mabie presented the joke of day – SUMMARY; John substituted the Joke of the day with an update on the Jessie Corum Scholarship awardee.  John noted the award was given to Desyree Ward, a Mom who now aspires to become an early educator and possibly an owner/operator of a child care center.  She will be attending CCV with the support of the scholarship award.  John also noted how much he continues to miss Jessie and his many contributions to our community.

ROTARY MINUTE
Carla urged all members to consider donating to the Rotary Foundation (Editor’s note: Our club has received many dollars from the Rotary Foundation in support of our international projects.)
 
 
Anniversaries:  Rotary anniversaries were recognized for Bill Vermouth, 35 years!, Jenifer Ambler 33 years, Tom Franks, 2 years.

      Paul Harris Award presented to Bill McKim, Bill shared he has been contributing $50 each year for the past 30years which has been matched by the club.  He noted that the Rotary Foundation utilizes 91% of the funds for programs and 9% for administration of the large foundation.

Tom French’s knee has slowed him down but he is still thinking of Rotary fellowship and ready to give us the lastest updates from his Grand daughter.
Ronda noted that annual dues are now over due.
Rob reported that the Afghan family move in painting party is scheduled for next Wednesday at 4pm and help is also needed for the move in work scheduled for the following Thursday. Any one with a truck would be helpful.
Chef Justin of the American Legion was thanked for his service to the club associated with the lunch program.
 
Bill McKim bragged for Greg Warden for all his work on coordinating the welcome center and for Rob for supporting our Afghan family resettlement efforts
Bill Vermouth bragged for Rhonda and Regina for their service to club.
Lucy, Regina’s daughter shared that she was happy to be joining the club meeting.

  • Today’s program Jango and Nate from BUHS presented on the Peace Jam initiative at the highschool and their trip to Washington DC  The meeting ended at 12:58 pm
