President Greg Worden welcomed a big crowd of folks to the May 19th meeting of the Brattleboro Rotary Club held at the American Legion in Brattleboro. John Kohler offered a meaningful invocation. This was followed by the pledge of allegiance.Birthday greetings were extended to Jeff Hagstrom, Bill Vermouth, and Mara’s dog, Camille the French Poodle. NOTE: Dart did not want to acknowledge the birthdays of his grandchildren.
As a luncheon of chicken cacciatore, pasta, salad, green beans and brownies and lemon cake for dessert was being digested, the meeting continued.

For our Rotary joke, Jerry Theberge told a version of the following joke:
A man, called to testify at the IRS, asked his accountant for advice on what to wear. "Wear your shabbiest clothing. Let him think you are a pauper," the accountant replied.
Then he asked his lawyer the same question, but got the opposite advice. "Do not let them intimidate you. Wear your most elegant suit and tie."
Confused, the man went to his Rabbi, told him of the conflicting advice, and requested some resolution of the dilemma. "Let me tell you a story," replied the Rabbi. "A woman, about to be married, asked her mother what to wear on her wedding night. 'Wear a heavy, long, flannel nightgown that goes right up to your neck.' But when she asked her best friend, she got conflicting advice. Wear your most sexy negligee, with a V neck right down to your navel."
The man protested: "What does all this have to do with my problem with the IRS?"

Good Morning John, Could you please pass this on to everybody that helped to send fabric and sewing machines to Pine Ridge: I would like to send a big thank you to all the good caring folks that helped send fabric and sewing supplies to the reservation. We all felt happy and overwhelmed when a semi pulled into the driveway. This reservation is about the size of the state of Connecticut. We do not have any store on the reservation that sells fabric. A trip to town is about 80 miles away. So your donation helped many families to sew Quilts and also clothes for their children. And to have it delivered saved gas money and the cost to hire a vehicle that can go off the reservation. Many families do not have the financial means to make a trip off the reservation. We do appreciate your help very much. The fabric was very nice and in good condition and I know that every piece will be used. Thank you very much and may god bless everyone! Rotary became "international" on 3 November 1910 with the "organization" of Rotary Club of Winnipeg, Canada. Winnipeg then was chartered as Club #35 on 13 April 1912 prior to the Duluth, Minnesota USA convention when Rotary became the International Association of Rotary Clubs.
