WELCOME

President Carla Lineback welcomed all to the September 26th meeting of the Brattleboro Rotary Club held at the American Legion in Brattleboro. Mike Mandracchia offered a short but thoughtful invocation:
Two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.
<ED NOTE: There is no truth to the rumor that Mike found this invocation in a fortune cookie.>

This was followed by the pledge of allegiance. Birthday greetings were extended to Cheri Ann Brodhurst and Marty Cohn.  As a luncheon of ham, baked chicken, chickpea medley, green beans with carrots, quinoa feta salad, green salad, cornbread, and ice cream with brownies for dessert was being digested, the meeting continued.

GUESTS: Visiting Rotarians Joanne Lemieux (Lebanon, NH)

TRIVIA QUESTION

What is the state animal of Vermont?

 (Answer below.)

JOKE OF THE WEEK

For today’s joke, Ricky Davidson offered a version of the following:

A little girl asked her mother, "How did the human race appear?"

The mother answered, "God made Adam and Eve and they had children, and so was all mankind made.."

Two days later the girl asked her father the same question.. The father answered, "Many years ago there were monkeys from which the human race evolved."

The confused girl returned to her mother and said, "Mom, how is it possible that you told me the human race was created by God, and Dad said they developed from monkeys?"

The mother answered, "Well, dear, it is very simple. I told you about my side of the family and your father told you about his."

At our October 3rd meeting, Meg Donahue will tell a joke or lead us in song and Cyndi Ferrante will offer a Rotary Minute.

NOTE: 2019-20 weekly assignments are posted on the club website.

ROTARY MINUTE

For the Rotary Minute, Bill Vermouth talked about the changes to this year’s Christmas Tree sales fundraiser.  The trees will only be sold for nine days … Saturday, Dec. 7 to Sunday, Dec. 15. On Dec. 7, we will have a remote broadcast by WTSA-FM 96.7, eggnog and cookies and a free ornament to the first 250 buyers. <ED NOTE: There is no truth to the rumor that Jim Haine will be dressing up as Santa Claus with Bill Vermouth as his elf.>
