President Phil George welcomed all to the March 10, 2022, meeting of the Brattleboro Rotary Club www.brattlebororotaryclub.org held at the American Legion.
22 members + 1 guest = 23 attended.
 
John Meyer offered an invitation for us to reflect on the crisis in Ukraine and consider the loss and devastation and the families that are being torn apart as women and children leave men behind to defend their country.

ROTARY MINUTE
For the Rotary Minute, President Phil shared information regarding Rotary’s disaster relief fund that will support relief efforts in and around Ukraine. Individuals can give at https://www.rotary.org/en (follow button on the homepage) or give a check written to the Rotary Foundation with Disaster Relief Fund written in the memo line to Carla Lineback.
In order for funds to be directed for Ukraine, donations must be made by April 30, 2022. Funds are held for Rotary Districts in and around Ukraine to access for various relief efforts.

  1. We are back to meeting in person at the Legion but will continue to meet via Zoom on the third Thursday of the month.
  2. Refugee family update – George Anthes turned his update into several brags (see below)

    1. Mar 12 – Groundworks Meal – food and volunteers are all set for this meal.
    2. Apr. 14 – Groundworks Meal – provided by student Rotarians. Stan will let us know if they need help.

PROGRAM
 Roger Allbee introduced our guest speaker Chris Campany, the Executive Director of the Windham Regional Commission. To learn more about WRC, visit:  http://windhamregional.org/about
Chris presented on the Global Warming Solutions Act. He presented on the Climate Action plan which includes over 200 actions. The plan is to be updated every 4 years. There are so many factors that will affect the plan and goals (for example current issues with Russia causes supply chain issues for materials needed for electric vehicles.)
