WELCOME

President Carla Lineback welcomed all to the December 5th meeting of the Brattleboro Rotary Club held at the American Legion in Brattleboro.  For today’s invocation, Al Jerard offered the following meaningful invocation:
As we enjoy our fellowship in this season of Thanksgiving, help us to remember how fortunate we are to be able to serve our brothers and sisters around the world through our great organization, and our Foundation. That we are prosperous enables us to give of our material wealth. That we are free enables us to work together on projects to accomplish wonderful successes. Amen.

This was followed by the pledge of allegiance. Birthday greetings were extended to Ana Saavedra.

Guests: Visiting Rotarian Katja Matthews (Sunrise) and Larry Rouse

As a luncheon of turkey vegetable rice soup and chickpea vegetable soup was being digested, the meeting continued. [ED NOTE: Entera Catering generously donated the soup and all monies will be given to Project Feed the Thousands.]

TRIVIA QUESTION

In Vermont, how many people are struggling with hunger?

 (Answer below.)

JOKE OF THE WEEK

For this week’s joke, Carla Lineback told the following:
An elderly Floridian called 911 on her cell phone to report that her car has been broken into. She is hysterical as she explains her situation to the dispatcher: "They've stolen the stereo, the steering wheel, the brake pedal, and even the accelerator!" she cried. The dispatcher said, "Stay calm. An officer is on the way." A few minutes later, the officer radios in. "Disregard." He says. "She got in the back-seat by mistake."

At our December 12th meeting, Steve Gordon will tell a joke or lead us in song and Jim Haine will offer a Rotary Minute.

NOTE: 2019-20 weekly assignments are posted on the club website.

ROTARY MINUTE

For the Rotary Minute, Carla Lineback asked us to consider Rotary Foundation and the club’s Gateway Foundation for any end-of-year charitable contributions.
