The Brattleboro Rotary Club's Gateway Foundation was established by our club in 1986 to create a local fund to support scholarships awarded annually to Brattleboro area students pursuing college.

The Gateway Foundation is a nonprofit and tax-exempt organization that provides six scholarships annually. It is funded by annual Rotary fundraising projects and generous contributions from Rotarians and other community members.

Some of the scholarships are named for Rotarians

  1. Bruce Campbell, long time Rotarian, police chief, and town manager, (goes to a Brattleboro student with strong community service credentials);
  2. Willie Stockwell, named after Don Stockwell’s son who died tragically;
  3. Justin Holden, a local businessman
  4. Robert Gannett, Senator and long -time Rotarian;
  5. Jesse M. Corum, IV, a local attorney, and longtime Rotarian;  (goes to a CCV student pursuing a career in Early Childhood Education).

Applications are accepted each May from graduating seniors at the following local high schools: Brattleboro Union, Hinsdale, and Leland and Gray, for the awards, are academic achievement, financial need, and community service, all of which are weighed evenly.

Applications are available online (see downloads on the left side of this page) or at school guidance departments, and must be submitted to:
