The Brattleboro Rotary Club's 36th Annual Charity Golf Tournament scheduled for June 9, 2011, will benefit the new West River Park to be built on Route 30.
The park will be built in phases on nearly 11 acres, with the first phase beginning in 2011. The final facility will eventually have: (1) a full-size all-purpose field for lacrosse, soccer, and Ultimate Frisbee; (2) a softball field, (3) a practice field for youth and adult groups; (4) a walking trail; (5) access to the West River via a beach and a canoe/kayak launch area; (6) a concession stand; and (7) picnic and play areas.
Specifically, proceeds from the Rotary Golf Tournament will go toward the walking trail and access to the river.
The golf tournament will take place at the Brattleboro Country Club on Upper Dummerston Road. The public is invited to participate in the golf tournament either as a golfer or sponsor, or by donating an item for the silent auction.
Golf tournament sponsorship opportunities include:
(1) a Hole Sponsor for $150
(2) a Special Sponsor for $500
(3) a Major Sponsor for $1,000
(4) a Tournament Sponsor for $2,500
Registration and bag lunch for golfers will begin promptly at 11 a.m., followed by a shotgun start (scramble format) at noon. Dinner, prizes, a silent auction, and a raffle will be taking place at 6 p.m. The hole-in-one prize is a new Subaru!
Full teams are not required; the cost is $125 for an individual and $460 for a foursome.
For Rotarians from visiting clubs, the Brattleboro Rotary Club will have a special "tournament within the tournament." Bring a team and have a chance to earn a Paul Harris Fellowship for your club. The team with one or more members from a visiting club, posting the lowest score among Rotarian teams, will receive $1,000 payable to Rotary International on behalf of their club.
Founded in 1950, the Brattleboro Rotary Club is an active community service club of about 90 members, who engage in community and human service projects locally and internationally. During the summer, the club has weekly lunch meetings at 12:15 p.m. Thursday at the Brattleboro Country Club.
